I am a native of Boise, born and raised, and love it here! Like a lot of people, I had to try my wings and moved away - I tried twice, once to cold (Alaska) and once to heat (Arizona). Both were fun, I liked both states and the experiences I had there - but they aren't year round places! I love the four seasons and that is one of the many things (read the Boise Top 10 List below )that attracts people to the Treasure Valley!
When I was born our family lived in the "North End" on 15th street. I grew up walking to the market at Hyde Park, riding roller skates down the sidewalks and playing tag through people’s yards and alleys. I enjoyed going to the Lowell public swimming pool followed by Fanci Freeze on summer evenings...many a dip cone in my past and present!), Camels Back Park - winter tubing within walking distance of your house and in the city!
As the family grew and divided we eventually moved to "The Bench". Now it is called the "Depot Bench" and is the same proximity from the downtown core as the North End only up the hill and south. I graduated from High School and started my own family in this area before moving to "Southwest Boise". We had a home on 1 full acre and raised (over several years) cows, pigs, chickens and a fantastic vegetable garden.
Opportunity knocked and followed it to the city of Eagle. We were lucky to live across from Eagle Elementary school on 5 acres on a little hill - big red barn and all! I remember one snowy Christmas when the entire family came to our house to celebrate. All the kids (young and old) went sledding in our field and across the street at the school - my Aunt said it reminded her of their childhood in North Dakota. Eagle really had an old time feel back then! In the past 20 years Eagle has changed dramatically. The family values and the rural feel remains but there are many new subdivisions and ranchettes. The soil is particularly good for horses (I am told-no horse experience here) and the foothills offers a horse lovers dream.
We have moved several times (that's what Realtors® do!) First to a acreage off Beacon Light Rd, then to a subdivision off Floating Feather, then built a home near the river off Eagle Rd, then back to a subdivision off Floating Feather! We are currently in Northwest Boise - between the North End and Eagle, I have almost gone full circle!
I've been in Real Estate since 1993 and sold homes in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, Middleton, Emmett, Donnelly & McCall. Having decades of experience navigating the Treasure Valley, I hope you'll check in and let me tell you some of my stories about the Treasure Valley. Sue Zabel
